The Research and Development (R&D) Committee at Echelon Institute of Technology, Faridabad, is committed to cultivating a vibrant and progressive research ecosystem that promotes innovation, critical thinking, and entrepreneurial spirit among faculty and students. The committee plays a strategic role in designing, implementing, and overseeing research-related policies and initiatives across all departments.
Its core objective is to build and sustain a strong research culture that aligns with national priorities and global academic and industrial benchmarks. By facilitating interdisciplinary research, encouraging industry collaborations, supporting intellectual property creation, and promoting scholarly publications, the R&D Committee acts as a catalyst for academic excellence and institutional growth.
Role of the Dean, Research & Development
R1 – Research & Development
The Dean of Research & Development is responsible for overseeing the institutional R&D ecosystem, including planning, monitoring, and promoting innovation, publications, collaborations, and incubation activities.
R1.1 Weekly Review Meetings (Every Friday except the First Friday):
The Dean shall chair weekly meetings with the Head of Innovation Cell, Head of Incubation Cell, and departmental Research Coordinators to monitor progress and plan upcoming activities. Documentation: Attendance Sheet and Event Photo (to be uploaded on the official Facebook page).
R1.2 Monthly Student Research Meeting (First Friday of Every Month):
The Dean will engage with Student Research Coordinators to discuss progress, motivate participation, and collect feedback. Documentation: Attendance Sheet and Event Photo (to be uploaded on Facebook).
R1.3 Project Museum:
All innovative student and faculty projects with significant impact and quality will be permanently displayed in the Innovation cell as an institutional repository of excellence.
R1.4 Student Chapters of Professional Societies:
- Institute must establish a student chapter under a reputed professional body (e.g., IEEE, ISTE).
- A Student President and Secretary must be appointed at the start of every semester.
- Membership renewals and activities are to be tracked.
- Events must be conducted regularly with supporting documentation including flyers, summaries, feedback reports, and photos.
R1.5 College Research Journal:
Dean Research should start own Journal of the Institute. All faculty must contribute at least one paper per semester to the Institute journal, ideally derived from the projects they are mentoring.
R1.6 Institute Innovation Council (IIC):
The Head of Research will coordinate and ensure timely execution and uploading of IIC calendar activities.
R1.7 Incubation Cell:
The Incubation Cell will select promising projects from students for incubation and development into market-ready products. Documentation: Project lists, MOUs, outreach activities, grant tracking, and technology transfers.
R1.8 Organizing National/International Conferences, FDP and Workshops:
- Efforts should be made to organize conferences in collaboration with reputed bodies (e.g., IEEE).
- Innovation and Incubation awareness workshops to be conducted once per semester for all departments.
- Required items: Brochure, guest speakers list, paper review, session schedules, mementos, best paper awards, photos, and summary.
Role of the Department Research Coordinator
R2 – Department Research Coordinator
The Department Research Coordinator will lead and supervise all research and innovation activities at the department level.
R2.1 Project Orientation Program:
- Conducted alongside departmental orientation for new students.
- Faculty to present their specialization and potential project areas.
- Emphasis on interdisciplinary and women-centric projects.
- Documentation: Attendance, event summary, and photos for Facebook.
R2.2 Project Allotment (From 3rd Semester):
- Projects to begin from 3rd semester and progress into final year.
- Project topics should aim for real-world applications/startups.
- Past project list to be circulated to prevent duplication.
- Group size: Max 4 students.
R2.3 Project Timeline:
Timeline to include: Guide allotment, title finalization, synopsis, reviews, final demo, report submission, and marking. Project Diary to be maintained by Guide. Major work to be completed by end of 7th semester.
R2.4 Evaluation & Participation:
Evaluation by HOD, Guide, and Research Coordinator. Students encouraged to participate in external events. Outcomes to be mapped to POs.
R2.5 Technical Event (Odd Semester):

R2.6 Report & Publications:
- Two copies of final report: One for department, one for central library.
- Mandatory publication of final-year project in National/International journal.
R2.7 Conference Activities:
- Publish conference proceedings.
- Students supported (partially reimbursed) for external paper presentations.
R2.8 Additional Responsibilities:
- Establish/upgrade one COE/research lab per department annually.
- Encourage Industry-on-Campus models with live labs.
- Apply for research grants from AICTE, DST, etc.
- File at least one patent/copyright per semester.
- Maintain Research General Proficiency (GP) marks and submit to HOD.
