Environmental Studies

Environmental Studies is the field that examines the relationship between people and the environment. It is an interdisciplinary subject examining the interplay between the social, legal, management, and scientific aspects of environmental issues.

The study of environment is very essential. We need to have proper knowledge of our surroundings where we live, as day-by-day, the pollution level is increasing at an exponential rate. The percentage of harmful gases like Carbon Dioxide, Chlorofluorocarbons (CFC), Carbon Monoxide, Methane, Sulfur Dioxide etc. is increasing in our environment, causing global warming and pollution. This causes many harmful effects on our environment – like glacier retreat, sea level rise, changing in the timing of seasonal events, decline of Arctic sea ice etc.

Environmental Issues
Environmental studies have a broad range of issues that our society is facing now and would face in coming future. The broad issues include growing population and consumption, production of non-biodegradable things etc. All issues are directly related to the human beings. We can observe that the countries are already facing issues like drought, flood, soil erosion, deforestation, global warming etc. Various types of pollutions like soil pollution, noise pollution, water pollution, air pollution are increasing at an alarming rate.

Environmental Development Programme
Our government started environmental development programme in 1986 for the improvement of environmental conditions. The future impact of global warming depends on the extent of prevention efforts that the Nations would implement. Living beings won’t be able to survive without fresh and a healthy environment.

Need for Public Awareness
The Public should be aware about their surrounding cleanliness. The environmental pollution cannot be prevented by Laws & Rules alone. Public participation is equally important in relation to the environmental protection.
