There is an array of career prospects for Electronics and Communication engineers in the drone industry. As per the current demand, drone technology and its applications are required in government agencies, agriculture, defence, health department, etc. Drone experts can be absorbed in the fields of terrain mapping and surveying, package delivery, emergency medical supplies and agriculture. Some of the roles for drone professionals are drone pilots, drone engineers (aeronautical and aerospace), drone maintenance personnel, artificial intelligence engineers, embedded systems engineers, wireless communication engineers and software developers.
Role of Indian Government in making India as a Drone hub
The Indian government is also serious about becoming self-reliant in the field of drone technology and its application in the interests of students, farmers, and the country’s last person standing in the last row. This is why the government is actively looking for new ways for farmers, students, and start-ups to use drones. On the back of its start-up power, India is moving at a fast pace towards becoming the world’s foremost expert in drone technology. Drone technology will not only boost the country’s prosperity, but it will also create jobs. Inaugurating India’s biggest drone festival, Bharat Drone Mahotsava 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi says, “It is my dream that India should have a smartphone in every hand, a drone in every farm, and prosperity in every home.” Drones are being employed in cities, as well as rural areas, distant tribal communities, and steep, difficult places, where different types of drones are proving to be quite useful.
On the occasion of Beating Retreat this year, the skies were illuminated for 10 minutes by 1000 drones, making India the fourth country in the world to organise such a show. Drone imports are now permitted in India only for research and development, defence, and security purposes.
The Drone technology demonstrates the potential of developing a significant sector in India for job creation in Electronics especially.
